Program Description
Nursing Careers prepares students in a health-related field. Students will learn about careers in health care by participating in career exploratory tours at local hospitals and through various guest speakers. Students will also visit a long-term care facility and job shadow a nurse aide. As a Nursing Careers student, they will master over 51 skills needed to gain employment in an entry-level position and may be eligible to become a certified Nursing Assistant.
Leadership skills will be developed through participation in HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) by competing in various medical events. Students will learn anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, safety, infection control, employability skills and more. This course is designed to broaden the student's perspective on a career in the medical field.
