Lapeer County Intermediate School District (LCISD) is working in cooperation with state and local partners to support the Executive Order issued by Governor Whitmer EO 2020-16 - Expanding child care access during the COVID-19 emergency .  LCISD is working to ensure the following two priorities are addressed immediately:

  1. Identify and monitor the existing capacity of local child care providers who are able to provide emergency care to essential workers. Here is a link to the child care providers that have openings at this time. 2. Connect “essential workers” in need of childcare with existing child care providers who have the capacity to provide care for their children.  A survey has been developed to help identify the need in our community:  http://bit.ly/COV19Childcaresurvey.  If you have completed the survey from LCISD, you do not need to complete the “Help Me Grow” survey.  Please check your email for communication from Becca Robertson

Lapeer ISD is also working with the local school district community to put in place contingency plans to open emergency child care centers in school facilities.  At this time, these facilities will only be activated if the pressure on the existing child care capacity is exceeded. Our first priority is to support existing providers who have the capacity to provide care for the essential workforce.

Press Release - Governor Whitmer Signs Executive Order Expanding Capacity for Disaster Relief Child Care Services for Essential Workforce

MEMO #COVID-19-015 Guidance and Considerations for Child Care within Classrooms for Children Ages 6 weeks through 5 years During the COVID-19 State of Emergency Update 3/23/20 Executive Order 2020-21 In alignment with the “Stay Home, Stay Safe, Save Lives: Executive Order” issued today by Governor Whitmer, child care providers, in centers, home-based or school-based settings for schools that re-open programs in this emergency, can choose to stay open or remain open to provide care only to the children of “critical infrastructure and essential workforce”  starting Tuesday, March 24, 2020.
