If you would like to opt into the text messaging service for Ed Tech school closings (inclement weather, power outage, etc.) please follow these steps:

  • Open a new message in your texting application
  •  In the "To" box (the "person" you are sending the text to), enter this number:  81010
  • In the "Message" area (the "text message" you are sending), enter @123edtech
  • Send the message

You will receive a response text message welcoming you to the system.

PLEASE NOTE: As of January 28, 2019, the "Remind" alert system will no longer send text messages to Verizon customers...you have the option of using (downloading) the Remind app, which is free of charge and will still provide closing information, or logging into the Remind website to select email notifications.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

If you decide to discontinue text messaging alerts, follow these steps:

  • After receiving an Ed Tech message from the Remind system, type @Leave into the message line, and send the message. You will no longer receive Ed Tech school closing alert.  You will only be removed from that specific message group, other Remind “classes” that you are affiliated with will not be affected.

The most important consideration when deciding any school closing is the safety of our students. Generally, the decision to close schools due to inclement weather is made in the early morning hours.  As soon as the decision to close schools is made, local television and radio stations are notified. The text messaging service is an additional form of communication implemented to increase our communication directly to families.
