Campers will be introduced to culinary careers and industry skills. They will learn the basics of safety, sanitation, knife skills, and how to create a scrumptious meal in this “on the go” world we live in!

Have you ever aspired to be a baker? Do you like to work with your hands creating tasty treats? In this camp students will be introduced to the wonderful world of baking. They will learn about safety, sanitation, and specific baking techniques! The best part is they will take their creations home to share!

Young Entrepreneur

Think you are an entrepreneur? Try this camp out! You’ll make your own products to sell! Learn how to price and market your product by web design! Parents will have the opportunity to see their young entrepreneurs at the grand finale “Young Entrepreneurs Trade Show!”

Light, Camera, Action!

Lights, camera, action! Students wil lmake a short film during the two days of camp. This hands-on opportunity will give students a chance to see what it’s like to be in front and behind the camera!

Summer STEMM Camp
June 26—30
5-8th grade—Lapeer M&S Center
Students will participate in the five different areas of STEMM, exploring careers in each area. This five day fast paced camp will be full of hands-on activities and discussions. During the week, students will learn the differences between morning and suspension bridges and building their own using the engineering process. They will also create a prototype marshmallow shooter and testing their accuracy and distance. Students get creative participating in our very own Whodunit Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) and work collaboratively to find, collect, and analyze evidence to solve the mystery! Does your student like racing? This camp also provides designing, testing and racing their their own CO2 powered “dragsters”. Students learn aerodynamic, rolling resistance and weight to power ratios! If cooking with a wood fire is your thing, than Mr. McCreedy has got something cooking for you! This day will focus on two traditional technologies and one state of the art, modern application of the wood fired cookstove. Students will work with all three, a combination of native, foraged food and pizza!

Beginners Robotics Camp
July 17—July 20
6-7th grade - B. Timmerman
This is an introduction into the field of Robotics and Mechatronics using the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robots. We will cover the basics of mechanics, levers, rations, and icon-driven graphic programming. Students must take beginners course prior to registering for Advanced Robotics Camp.

Advanced Robotics Camp
July 24—July 27
8-9th grade - B. Timmerman
This camp is designed to advance the learning of Robotics and Mechatronics using the Tetris Robot platform. Students will enhance their learning of mechanics, levers, rations, and servo motors through RobotC (a C based programming language). Students must have taken the Beginners Robotics Camp either last summer or this summer as a pre-requisite to this advance camp.

Go Cart Build
July 31—August 4
6-8th grade—M. Bammer, K. Thomas
Vroom, Vroom! Working in small groups, students will build go carts from the ground up. Beginning with braking, steering, and suspension, the groups will then work on body panels, roll bars, lights and a dash. Finally they will end by adding an engine, align the drive chain, and finish the electrical system. On the last day students will have the opportunity to drive the cart they build. Due to the popularity of this camp, students who have not participated in this camp last summer will have first enrollment.

Considering a career in welding? Work on various hands-on projects in our welding lab using Shielded and Gas metal Arc Welding processes, as well as an Oxyacetylene torch and Plasma Arc cutting. Students will be taking their completed projects home!

Do you like to hammer things? Join this camp to build your very own wood checker board! Participants at this camp will learn how to work with their hands and build the classic checkers game!

Animal Science/Horticulture Camp
August 7-8 Kindergarten—3rd grade
August 9-10 4– 6th grade

This camp will teach you some of what you need to know about veterinary science. Learn the basics of animal systems, nutrition and health. Learn the difference between a cause, symptom, sign, prevention and control of diseases. Visit our barn and learn the skills involved in animal restraint, taking an animal's temperature, giving an injection and basic first aid.

Advance Veterinary Science
August 14—August 17
7-9th grade—T. Hyatt
In this advance camp students will participate in dissection while learning about diseases and parasites that plague animals in todays society. In addition, students will take a field trip to a local college to learn about the Veterinary Technician program and what it entails.
